relaxation meets stresses development

Research and Brainstorm

This is my development of relaxation meets stressed meeting place.

I wanted to re design this idea because i felt it didn't really work with the bar theme. i brainstormed ideas that related to stress relief such as:
 -meditating
-obstacles
-materials like bubble wrap, stress balls etc.
-muscles and knots
-a place were you can throw and smash things
-a place you can draw on the walls.

i incorporated some of these ideas together and decided to have the floor inside the boat shed as a trampoline, the material is bouncy, stretchy and feels free relating to stress. I then decided to have the walls all covered in chalkboard, a place were you can draw all over and express yourself. i then decided to have a boxing bag and other things to hit dangling from the roof as another way of stress relief, things you can bash and tackle.

In my group discussion they gave me useful tips such as how the lighting would work with a dark room caused by the chalkboard, they told me to leave the roof translucent so that light could enter from all angles, they also mentioned that having the ability to see up into the sky could also be relaxing. When it came to setting out my work they told me to have collages of close up perspective shots of what you could do in my space so it was easier to understand, especially if i was showing a plan view.

Messy meets busy - cafe

Brain Storm

Research

I wanted to design a cafe space that had a strong lively atmosphere that felt fun and enjoyable. i decided that my meeting would be messy meets busy. i wanted to fully use up the space with lots of seating and objects such as newspapers, magazines, snacks. I used large seating areas so it felt more social. I wanted the place to be fairly crazy to in force the idea that the space was a place that was fun unlike work, a place that you could escape to, to release boredom .

Cushioned walls

I wanted to create a bar that was designed for people to come after work to have a relaxing beer. So i decided my meeting place would be relaxation meets stressed. I thought about the differences of 'tense and loose' and so i decided to create things inside my bar that represented things based around loose floppy objects. Things like fluffy cushions, curtains, sheets, dangling rope etc. to create the idea that my space was not tense but free.
